On March 8, 1901, Governor Gage signed the California Polytechnic School Bill and classes began two years later in September 1903. Now, in its 100th year, the campus is known as a premier public polytechnic university, due in large part to its outstanding faculty, students and dedicated alumni and friends. With an eye toward the future, Cal Poly is poised to assume a national leadership role.
